1. Colour extraction methods using HSV (hue-saturation-value) provide stable detection even when there are variations in grease and workpiece surface colour tones. 2. As well as detecting whether grease has been applied, machine vision equipment can measure the grease quantity by surface area in order to identify whether the proper amount has been applied.
The amount of grease applied to parts was previously identified using colour sensors. The sensors could only detect whether grease had been applied, and sometimes parts without enough grease were allowed to pass. Machine vision equipment can reliably identify parts without the proper amount of grease as defects.
