Scale Shot Method
As the measurement rod moves, the scale built into the rod will move. A complex pattern is written onto this scale, and this pattern makes it possible to ascertain the amount of movement and the absolute values. The movement amount and absolute values are measured by applying light from a parallel LED to the pattern, which is read at high speeds by a CMOS sensor.
